TOT-HOM, THE FAMILY’S EXPRESSION PATTERNS
27IX18 – BARCELONA, SPAIN.
The latest looks from Tot-Hom’s Autumn/Winter 18.19 Haute Couture, Prêt-à-porter & Línea A Collection catwalk
As the summer winds down, designers move forward to new horizons and gaze at their creations to improve their chances of success. Season after season, Tot-Hom fashion shows attract the well-heeled in Catalan society and are one of the most important events in Barcelona city.
On the 27 September last, Tot-Hom staged its Couture show on a 62-meter-long runway in the Hotel Sofia, with thousands looking on from along the seats and it was exciting to be a part of such an iconic true and biannual legitimate celebration of multidisciplinary women.
Needless to say, casual-smart for the day is the most adequate clothing. Marta Rota and her daughters Andrea Osés and Alejandra Osés, chalk up to a winning formula: follow an elegantly relaxed look script, cool and sober, the combination of dominant black and red and everlasting subtle neutral grey and white, all basic colors often mixed among themselves championing casual elegance and a luxury style. The key issue on perfect styling is how to choose different combinations among simple outfits, such as cropped flare jeans, to mix with lavish ones without sacrificing elegance and to ensemble with browns and navy blue. The tartan, or plaid, midi skirts and tapestry prints are placed in the very top of Tot-Hom’s Pret-à-Porter, with a predominance of olive green and bordeaux, that support a delicate coalition of classic nature and mystery.
As I see it, their methodology is based on clothes composition whose design rationalizes how designers feel and how they want to look, understanding between garments and body. They connect their attires with fashion accessories by Carmina Rotger on and on. Sometimes, love and attention to detail make a difference. What about those prominent allies? Some fashion tricks. There are at least three. One, the belt, which can greatly change your look. Let’s pay attention to the width of the shoulders, the curves and the slim waists and try to pair a wide belt loop with male patterns raincoats and coats. Another, extra big urban costume jewellery, which persuades, those impressive charms with which sisters García Rotger flirt and bring about to compete among sizes and materials. And other one, the rediscovered, picturesque and flattering ankle booties and cowboy boots, giving good vibe, that have come to stay.
In the evening, a romance of disciplines argues the use of the fabrics that caress the body, such as pleated gauze, satin, tulle and organza, accompanied by vivid feathers, savage animal-printed patterns and embroidery, celebrating Haute Couture diversity. Without a doubt, highlights were given by mi nomination for the show’s Best Dress, the shirt-inspired dress, while ensuring loyalty from far away. A steamy, tremendous, powerful and magnificent punk pink dress.
Some smiles and a theatrical way missed, but Tot-Hom‘s collections are lasting lessons in time and smell nice like back history…And to reach that goal is crucial. Because for Martha, Andrea and Alejandra, to define the trends that are going to take over our wardrobe is a skill, along with unborn personal likings for fashion that make them spread attitude and allow us to look best, suffice it to say that they know how to risk properly.
